NOTHING STANDARD

Drawing inspiration from both the masterful composers and vocalists who composed and interpreted "The Great American Songbook” with the objective of pushing the music forward, "Nothing Standard" is a modern homage to the tradition of jazz singing and standards-songwriting. Showcasing primarily original music, co-written by award-winning jazz vocalist Jesse Palter and her longtime collaborator, pianist Michael Jellick, and featuring accompaniment by jazz titans Ben Williams on bass and Gregory Hutchinson on drums.

2020 VISION

"2020 Vision" is an anthemic ode to the student experience during the pandemic, featuring descriptive lyrics - equal parts heartfelt and timely, catchy hooks and soaring background vocals from a curated student choir.

Written & co-produced by Jesse Palter with Jake Bass, "2020 Vision" features additional instrumentation from David Cook (Taylor Swift) on keys, Ben Williams (Pat Metheny) on bass and Nate Winn on drums.

BETTER DAYS

“Better Days”, an ode to quarantine and lockdown, explores the magic of artistic collaboration that can occur and bind the creative despite the limitations of time and distance. Reflective and slightly optimistic, this tune is co-created and produced with Jake Bass and features notable musicians Jeff Babko (music director for Jimmy Kimmel, James Taylor) and Ben Williams on the keys and bass, respectively. The song was written over Zoom and each segment of the song was recorded in everyone’s individual living spaces due to quarantine restrictions; a fitting tribute considering “Better Days” was written in and is about the quarantine lockdown.

Notable musicians involved include bassists Tim Lefebvre (David Bowie’s Blackstar) and Alex Al (Michael Jackson), and drummers Matt Chamberlain (Fiona Apple, Pearl Jam) and Aaron Sterling (John Mayer). “Paper Trail reveals an artist of soul, vision and songwriting that is both joyfully infectious and heartrending” – Music Connection
